We have reached that time of year again, so gentlemen pay attention!!! Valentine’s day is here and it is the very occasion, that every poor male soul out there is being judge on the success of their job as boyfriend, fiancé or Husband. No pressure fellas, but this is also a day for you to wipe away your sins, reprieve your mistakes, make-up for all those lost days without flowers, chocolates and wine. But don’t worry, I’ve designed this blog to lend a helping hand.
I’ve researched the top 5 flowers to give your loved one on valentine’s day. Everyone has different tastes in flowers and the following five are just a few ideas to make your special someone smile this year.
Roses: Not surprisingly, red roses are the number one flower to buy on Valentine’s day. It’s believed that 51% of flower purchases on the day are red roses. This is because they are associated with passion, romance and beauty. It is also very common to buy other coloured roses and there are more than 150 rose varieties out there to choose from. If the rose is your flower of choice this year, there are ways to keep them lasting longer. To ensure a good life span, trim the stems and place them in clean water every two days. A small drop of bleach will help keep your water clean and the flowers lasting longer.
Tulips: Tulips are also a very popular flower for Valentine’s day, because like roses, they come in a large variety of colours. They are also a more affordable option, while still leaving a long lasting impact on your Valentine. Another great thing about Tulips is that they represent enteral and deep feelings for someone.
Carnations: I know these flowers seem so old fashion, but they are making a big comeback. Carnations come in a huge variety of vibrant colours. They are also a more affordable flower option. Carnations can help make a mix bunch of flowers cheery and bright.
Orchids: Orchids are always that classic and romantic flower that says “I will always love you”. They look amazing in any room of the house and are the gift that keeps on giving. Cymbidium Orchids, are my personal favourite. They have traditionally been associated with love and true beauty.
Succulents: Succulents are a cool and an ‘on trend’ floral gift for this Valentine’s day. I think succulents can represent love in their most perfect form, they will stick around through thick and thin and last forever.
Before you order your flowers, make sure you know what her favourite flowers are. I’ll never forget when one of my closest girlfriends received a chilli bush from her boyfriend for Valentine’s day. On the card he wrote, “I think you’re hot”. He knew that she would love It and this year I have the privilege of helping celebrate their wedding.
I will leave you with the following thought: It’s all about the message in the card! At the end of the day, the most important gift are the kind words you give. But don’t mistake this is a cheaper way out gentlemen. After all, without flowers, we won’t remember anything you write in that card.
